Two comebacks by the Habs in this game; dramatic tying goal in the last 30 second by Kovy, and then the game-winning goal by Kosto in OT.
Thoughts?

As a Flyers fan, I must show some respect that the rest of my city lacks. The Habs played a great game and Price was incredible between the pipes. But you know as well as i know that the refs won the game for the Candeins.
I normally would never place blame on the refs because that is a very tough jobs. But i have two very big problems with two calls made last night.
1. The 1st Kovalev goal: I don't understand how that was inconclusive evidence. After Kovalev hit the puck with the blad of his stick, it was very clear that he hit the crossbar with his stick. Which would mean that his stick was above the net when he scored. Now i have an 22' tv in my room, so how does 5 men in Toronto with some of the best equipment for reviewing a goal didn't see that.
2. The penalty on Richards with one minute left. Ok the refs did a good job of calling pretty much only the penalties thet HAD to call for the first 59 minutes of the game. But for some reason the ref decided he wanted to change that when Richards made such a nice hit on Kovalev that it sent him sprawling head-over-heels to the ice. One of the best hits i've seen this playoffs was turned into a turning point and the reason the Flyers eventually lost.
Again good game by the Habs but i think the refs had to much influence on the outcome.

There are a few things I have to respectfully argue about.
First of all, I have to say, nice post, one of the good ones on this forum so far.
Alright, Here I go. For your first point I agree. That one shouldn't of counted. After re-watching it, it is obvious that you're right.
What I DO have to argue about is your second point. Perhaps you saw it wrong, I don't know, I'm not accusing you, but that was a penalty. The stick and the elbow went in front of the man, and either way you look at it, that's illegal. What I do think though is that Kovalev exaggerated a bit, and performed an exaggerated dive to draw the attention of the refs. Not allowed, should've been called as well. Even that, I'm not sure about, though.
Here are the game highlights. I encourage you to skip forwards to 2:30 to see the penalty.
Either way, it was a spectacular game, and Philly was the better team out there last night. The Habs were very lucky to come out with the win.

The Habs have more luck than skill. Price has skill and the team is lucky to have him.

yeah, i agree with sam. alot of luck. and kovalev has somewhat of a reputation for diving, i think he just wants to go on the powerplay because they were the best powerplay team this season, and he'll do whatever it takes, hence the diving.

More luck than skill? I think that's exaggerating. Montreal DID finish first, and made it into the second round. Luck can only affect so much. I wouldn't call Montreal less skillful than lucky.
Plus, everyone dives. Ever since the diving rule has been introduced, it seems to have quadrupled. I disagree with you Carson. If you want to call a player a diver, call Sergei Kostitsyn one, but I don't think Kovy is one, just because he did it last night.

i've noticed kovalev dive the most on montreal, especially during the boston series, that's all he was good for, and yes i am aware that everyone dives, but there are some players with reputations, espesially Derek Roy, but out f all of the montreal players, to me, Kovalev is the Diver of the team.

Heh. I watch all the games, dude. Sergei is the worst. By far. And all he was good for? What about the winning goal in OT? And he had the most points after the series for Montreal.

in the boston series? im sure that the sergei kostitsen was the MTL point leader, kovalev only had like 3 goals and like 3 assists, and he had 2 good games in that whole series he wasn't playing like he played this season.

Well, you're kind of right. They were tied. But Kovalev had 6 penalty minutes (guess he wasn't doing too much diving, the refs were all over that in the first series), and Sergei had 14 (Couldn't get away with it, unfortunately. The hooks didn't help with that, either). Plus, 25 shots on net by Kovy, dominates his team.

yeah, sergei gets the stupid penalties rather than dives, kovalev did some diving in the first round, im sure he wasn't caught though.
