He really gets under the skin of some Habs fans !!  So called fans of the Habs made a big deal that he did NOT return back to Montreal from his summer in Europe to attend the annual Habs golf tournament. Some leader he is ?! Obviously not up to par (punny) ? Gimme a break. I am a Habs fan but sometimes embarassed to say so. |

I agree. There was also a big deal made about Laraque not going to the tournament because he's new and from Quebec, but he hates golf.
And if I were Koivu, I probably wouldn't fly across the world to go play golf either especially since he's going to be over here for a large part of the year shortly after anyway.

& being in Québec I do hate to bring up the language issue but some fans do wish Koivu would make more effort to speak more french.
Why does it have to seem like the language police have to put their nose in all issues !?
It does re surface every year/season. Gimme a break !

Im going to get overboard on this post guys and Im sorry for it. When Saku had Cancer. There was no CT scan for him to do tests. So he had to go to another city or town. Then Saku bought a CT scan for the town of Montreal which cost him 5 mil. I think that they are lucky that he bought it for then. The town of Montreal needs to wake up and see what he has done for the city. Out of the hole history Montreal he gets lots of crap for beinging the captain of the team. I wonder if they win the cup would the media people leave him alone?  |

I, personally, have no problem with Koivu. I like him as a player and as a person a lot. Some people question his competence as a captain, but really we have no idea. Only the guys in the locker room know that, and if he's still captain, he must be pretty good.

Yep, Koivu along with his dedication as wearing the letter C (big deal he missed the golf game) his dedication to Montreal/city/community with his fundraising as Snoopy mentioned above with his efforts both public and private support with cancer patients.
