Anahiem vs San Jose
I like the sharks in this series. The ducks goalies suck. So I'm picking Sharks in 4.
Blue Jackets vs Detroit.
On paper it looks like Detroit are the favroites in this series but there goalies are not great. But the only way that Blue Jackets move on is if Steve Mason win then the series which I think that he can. But I think there is too much pressure on him for a 20 year old just like what Montreal did with Price last year. So I have to pick Detroit in 6.
Vancouver vs St. Louis
All I got to say is that Vancouver wins this series no problem
Calgary vs Chicago
This is going to be the series to watch. Calgary is hurt. Chicago is young and they are going to be nice to watch in the playoffs I pick this series to go to 7. But not in Canada way. Chicago will move on. Kipper is getting tired so till the flames learn to cut down on his playing time they will not move on to the second round of the playoffs/

Boston vs Montreal
Due to my bias I'm not going to make a prediction for this matchup, but I will analyze it anyway. I think Boston has the advantage physically and, due to several injuries, have more scoring depth than Montreal. The Canadiens stand a chance in this series if they can provoke the Bruins to lose their cool and start taking stupid penalties, and then capitalizing on their Powerplay situations. Also, with the absence of Markov, and Schneider possibly playing injured, there will be a lot more pressure on guys like Komisarek and Hamrlik, who will have to step it up. Guys like Kostitsyn and Plekanec will have to give a better effort and will be a key part of whether the Habs advance or not.
Washington vs New York
Washington is probably the most explosive offensive team in the league, and will punish you for any defensive errors. The Rangers will have to play very solid D and stay out of the penalty box if they want to stand a chance against the Capitals. Lundqvist will also have to be superb. On the flip side, a weak D and unpredictable goaltending in Theodore could lead the Caps to an early exit if the Rangers can take advantage of these weaknesses.
Prediction: Washington in 6.
New Jersey vs Carolina
The Hurricanes are heading into the playoffs as one of the hottest teams in the league. They have been scoring goals like mad for the last few weeks. However, they are meeting what is probably the worst match for their style in the Devils. With a stifling defense and the best goalie in the league, the 'Canes will have to work hard for all of their goals in this one. They key to success for the Canes is to play with a lot of intensity, while staying out of the penalty box. I smell an upset in this one.
Prediction: Carolina in 7
Pittsburgh vs Philadelphia
This is definitely going to be a good one. While Pittsburgh has more star presence in the dominant players that are Malkin and Crosby, Philadelphia has more all-around depth in their line-up, with a top six that is possibly the best in the league, and a third line that is good enough to be a second on most teams. The Flyers play with a lot of intensity, but that sometimes leads them into penalty trouble, so discipline is something they will have to focus on. Pittsburgh needs Fleury to be solid and needs to be ready to defend him when the Flyers start to try and get to his head.
Prediction: Philadelphia in 7

Anahiem vs San Jose
This is probably going to be the most entertaining matchup in the West. San Jose is the type of team that is unforgivable and will make you pay for your mistakes. They are dominant physically, have great offensive power, a solid D, and very good goaltending to top it off. In short, the Sharks are a team with no glaring weaknesses. However, the Ducks can compete with the best of them when it comes to physicality. They will have to play with lots of intensity and keep their emotions in check if they hope to beat the Sharks. Giguere will have to step it up.
Prediction: San Jose in 5
Columbus vs Detroit
As it is Columbus' first playoff appearance, playing in front of their fans will be quite the challenge. Detroit is a very complete team that can do it all, much like the Sharks except less physical but more dangerous offensively. Osgood is a questionable starter as always, so maybe the Jackets can capitalize on that.
Prediction: Detroit in 5
Vancouver vs St. Louis
The Blues go into this series as the biggest underdogs of the 2009 playoffs. They have been red hot since Christmas, going from last in the conference to a playoff spot. They are an extremely hard-working team with lots of speed and scoring depth. Their defense is probably their biggest weakness. They are also playing against one of the best goalies in the league, and a team who is pretty complete overall.
Prediction: Vancouver in 6
Calgary vs Chicago
This is going to be a great series. Chicago heads into the playoffs lead by young players with little playoff experience. However, they are a team that can light it up offensively and have a lot of depth. Their defense is good, but their goalies are unpredictable. Meanwhile, Calgary has multiple injuries, but when healthy they are a very dominant team. They will take advantage of their size to impose physical dominance on the smaller Blackhawks players. They will need Kiprusoff to be solid against Chicago's scary offense.
Prediction: Calgary in 7

Western Predictions:
San Jose beats Aneheim in 6
Detriot beats Columbus in 5
Vancover will beat St. Louis in 4-6 games
Calgary and Chicago...I want to say that Chicago will take it, but im not sure, I don't think Huet can carry them and they have an intense lack of play-off experience, but then again Calgary has been one of the coldest teams since the trade deadline. So this one is difficult.
Oh and I forgot to mention, For my Carolina vs New Jersey prediction, I was very Hesitant on making it. Considering Carolina was the hottest team going into the play-offs and New Jersey has been the coldest since Brodeur broke the record. So im saying New Jersey will take it, but I still wouldn't be suprised if Carolina won that series.

2nd Round Predictions:
Washington beats Pittsburg in 6 Boston beats Carolina in 7 Detroit beats Aneheim in 7 Chicago beats Vancover in 6
I want to say that Carolina will beat Boston, but im not too sure they will. They're very lucky to be in the 2nd round. But based on the fact that they beat who I thought was going to the Stanley Cup Finals, I still think they have a chance.

Boston vs Carolina
Carolina will come into this series brimming with confidence, but will be tired from a long, hard series. Boston will come into it well rested, and maybe a little rusty. I can see Carolina coming out strong and winning game 1, before the Bruins regain control. If the 'Canes want to win, they will have to out-play Boston defensively, as relying strictly on offense will not work as well as it did against the defensive-minded Devils.
Prediction: Boston in 5
Washington vs Pittsburgh
Oh man, this one is gonna be great. It's going to be a fast and rough series, and I could see it being a long one. Washington will have to be better defensively, and hope that Varlamov can keep it up against a team that is a lot more dangerous offensively than the Rangers. Pittsburgh will have to contain Washington's top line and specifically Ovechkin if they hope to win this one. Key to both teams is staying out of the penalty box.
Prediction: Washington in 7
Detroit vs Anaheim
This is also going to be a great series. The Ducks are coming off of a huge upset, and I think are more than capable of shutting down Detroit. Both teams will have to hope that their goalies can hold up in this series, and the Ducks will have to focus on playing some disciplined hockey.
Prediction: Detroit in 7
Vancouver vs Chicago
If the Canucks want to win this one, they will have to contain the Hawks' dangerous, deep offense. Staying out of the box is key. If the Canucks want to win this one, I expect Luongo will have to steal it for them.
Prediction: Chicago in 6
