Which is overall the best player?
If you could have only one of them on your team, which one would it be?

I would go with Malkin. This guy has been on fire during the postseason.

I agree. It also kind of depends on the team you have I guess, but a team like Montreal for instance could benefit more from Malkin, in my opinion.

I'm starting to care less and less about that, honestly. I mean, if we did care, then we would hate pretty much all of the Habs. But looks at how well Montreal did this year. Look how well Detroit does every year.
Europeans fit the new style of play of the NHL (since the lockout) better than most North Americans, and I'm pretty sure they enjoy it more now. Laziness hasn't been a strong topic since the lockout, it's been more about the reffing.

yeah, i would take malkin, and the whole europeans after the lock-out thing, i disagree, i think since bout 1998-99 was the year that the europeans stared coming out and getting more on the score sheets. and alot of great european defencemen came out around them, but since the lock-out i think that number increased, but i don't think that's when they got that new style, i think it started in the late 90's in my opinion

You misunderstood what I said.
I said Europeans, but it was because I was trying to avoid generalizing Russians, but that's what I meant. Russians were very widely labelled lazy before the lockout. That mentality still prevails a little bit, but it's diminished a lot. You know why? Because they weren't actually lazy. They were scared. There were a ton of huge North American guys who pounded on them along the boards, so they didn't give very much effort to try getting the pucks in the corner or winning one-on-one battles because they didn't want to get hurt. Now, though, the rules on roughing and hooking are way more strict, and Russians, being generally fast, get to use their speed to go get the pucks and don't have to worry as much about getting plastered because there are less big guys now that the game is more focused on speed.
And the laziness tag was more set on forwards than defensemen.
