In all honesty, I think Carbonneau should've got it, and not because I'm a Habs fan.

A coach who leads a team full of young players that wasn't even supposed to make the playoffs to first in the East deserves it.

I mean, in Washington, it was really more thanks to the GM who made some slick deadline moves, and in Detroit, well... The team is loaded, they could have the worst coach in the world and still be decent.

Carbonneau had no help.

yeah...i agree. the only reason i think they would have considered Babcock is because the wings won the cup and got first in the nhl, it works like that all the time.
