i don't about you guys, but i under estimated my sens this season, i think they can pull of great season this year. They've played three games so far all against the Stanley Cup Champions, and they came out with three points...which is three more points than i thought they would get. Also Mike Fisher was absent for two of those games and Daniel Alfredsson was absent for one, so if the sens can stay almost un-injured this season, i think they will finish 4th or even take the division!(haha i know all of you are gonna dis-agree with that one )

I don't think the Senators are underrated by many people this year. They're an above average team that will make the playoffs and probably go out in the second round when they face the conference's top dogs like Pittsburgh, Montreal or Washington. Something like that.
Let's start by talking about Pittsburgh. They're a team that, while still being very full of talent, are a significant downgrade from last season's club. The losses of Hossa, Malone, Roberts and Laraque were compensated by adding Satan, Fedotenko and Cooke. That's not bad as a replacement, but it's definitely not even close to being as good. Not to mention that their top two defencemen, Gonchar and Whitney, are out with injuries.
They're definitely not the team they were last year, so yes it is easier to beat them. They're still better on paper than Ottawa though, so 3 points out of 4 is a very respectable achievement.
As for Detroit, well, Ottawa lost. But hey, Detroit is the best team in the league.
What I'm getting at is that Ottawa is definitely not a horrible team, but to think they can take the division, especially this early on, is pretty naive. As big a fan of Ottawa as you are, there's no way you can deny that Montreal has the best roster, currently, in the North-East division. I'm saying this outside of the perspective of a fan of the team, but Montreal has 3 fast lines very capable of scoring goals, one of the best defensive units in the league, and two solid goalies.
I've never said this before this season, so I'm not just spewing stuff about Montreal because I like them. But right now, as I write this currently, Montreal has the best roster, as a whole, in the Eastern conference. It's undeniable. It could change, but that's what it is for now.

i know saying that they could come out of this season with the division is coming more outta hope but what i meant is that most of you are expecting the sens to come 7th or 8th again, but thats definetly underestimating them, they're a way better team than last year, which is why I think they'll come in the 4th or 5th place region. And I know its only been 3 games, but I think things can only get better from here, once Alfie gets back and they find a way to fix thier very very weak goaltending issue *coff coff trade gerber coff coff* things will look brighter

well i think thier looking at some goalies who's contracts are running out. I know Dwaine Roloson(EDM) and Nikolas Backstrom(MIN) are free agents at the end of this season...so im predicting a trade or something before the deadline...accually im saying that Gerber WILL be gone before the deadline

well after watching the games VS Florida and Boston, im very close to taking back everything i've said on this thread. Goaltending EXTREMLY WAY OUTTA THIS LEAGUE...bad. they're not scoring and they're just not finding chemestry with all the new line changes. I really hope that things pull together and work out, because i know Hartsburg is a good coach and is just as angry at my Sens than i am.

I've been saying this for a while.
If Ottawa trades Spezza away for a real goalie, they will be 20 times the team they have been for a long time. Seriously. Trading Spezza could get them almost any goalie in the league, and that goalie would help out the team a lot more than he can.

Yeah, and I got excited because I thought they were gonna do what I've been saying. That would've been a great move for them.

i donno, spezza seems to be the only person for the first line right now...although he's not on it. Heatley isn't getting points, spezza's not getting points...i think Heatley has 1 assist since the line-up changed, and Spezza has no points, they NEED to be together
