Rumours suggest that negotiations are currently taking place between Bob Gainey and Doug Risebrough regarding a trade including Gaborik. The negotiations have intensified since last night. The Wild are apparently asking for Higgins, Halak, and a 1st round pick in return for Gaborik. Gaborik is looking to sign a contract worth 8Mil. He is a UFA this summer. im not saying that this is not gonna happen but especially last year alot of very great players were rumoured to go to montreal (Forseburg, Hossa ect.) but I don't think that the Wilds are gonna give up Gaborik THAT easily, Higgins and Halak are both great (the draft pick is probably gonna be really late) but they cant replace Gaborik. But you know, it could happen, but i wouldn't count on it

Well Carson, this is more than rumors. These negotiations are actually happening, and right now Gainey is probably trying to make the deal better because with the way it is currently, Minnesota is coming out on top.
As for giving up Gaborik easily, it's not. With what they're asking for, this trade is actually currently unfair for Montreal. Plus, the reason it has such a high chance of happening is that Gainey and Risebrough are friends, and they used to play with the Canadiens together.
Plus, Minnesota doesn't want to sign Gaborik for what he wants, so they will get rid of him, whether it's now or later. Unless they can convince him to lower his demands, but he's already rejected an offer above 7 million from the Wild.
This trade is basically completed from what I've heard, it's Gainey that doesn't want to swap Higgins and Halak and a 1st rounder for injury-prone Gaborik.

No. That's why there are parts of the deal we don't know about for sure.

See thats the thing, Gaineys gonna have to give someone better with a larger contract away, then and i don't think he's gonna want to give away someone for (an injury prone) Gaborik, despite him being an awsome player

Doesn't mean it's all one trade.

I doubt it. They want a goalie from this trade.
Cap space for the Habs, if they move Higgins and Halak in the trade would be at 3.2M.
