The Bruins are currently first in the Eastern Conference. What is the origin of their success? What is this team doing better than last year?

Can a coach really have that much of an impact? He can only do so much.

I really do think a Coach is imperative for the success of a team.
As well the GM & a goalie
If a team has those 3 things covered it is a good recipe/formula

Thier roster!
Savard, Chara, Wideman, Lucic, ect...
oh and thier coach too.

Their roster hasn't changed from last year except for Ryder, yet they were mediocre last year.
Their coach hasn't changed either.

oh yeah, and Tim Thomas is playing about 200% better than he was last year.

boston is doin really good out of all the teams in the league boston is the last team i thought would be in first right now

really?
you figured that Atlanta or NYI would have a better chance of coming first over Boston?
I noticed thier great play last season, In the play-offs, just for a slight second, I even thought they would maybe even beat MTL in the play-offs last season. But Price played amazingly in game 7 to ruin thier chances, but still, they lasted 3 more games than anyone expected.
