i heared from my friend that Darcy Tucker, going into the NHL was "the player" and that he was suppposed to be like the next Gretzky, but...Toronto drafted him and turned him into a goon.
i just wanted to know if that was true.

That's... kind of correct. He wasn't expected to be the next Gretzky, but there were high hopes for him. And also, it wasn't Toronto that drafted him, it was Montreal, and he just turned to to be a goonish player.

yup, montreal drafted him. then he went to Tampa Bay and then to Toronto, and will be finding himself a new home next winter

Heheh, yeah most people seem to think that Tucker was drafted by the Leafs, but it was actually Montreal.
