I can probably guess what all of you guys are gonna say if I ask if you think the Sens are making the play-offs. But, if you look at the numbers it's definetly not impossible.
Ottawa currently sits in 13th place in the east. A win tonight against Minnesota will put them in 11th, that puts them 14 points out of 8th. 7 wins. 29 games left (2 more than any other team in the NHL) and they have a 3 game winning streak going. Florida(7th) and Buffalo(8th) are put into consideration though. They're doing considerably well. It's a stretch.
With 29 games left the most possible points they can get is 106 which wont happen. But to make 93 points(average amount of points for a play-off spot) they will have to win at least 22 games.
Im not saying that they will make the play-offs, But I still have hope, and Im not giving up...just yet.

Well it's definitely not mathematically impossible as you pointed out, but another thing you have to remember is that there are other teams currently out of the playoffs that could easily jump back into the race, notably Pittsburgh.
Florida is currently on pace for 95 points and Buffalo approximately 94. Florida is extremely solid defensively and have been in a playoff spot all season long, and Buffalo is on fire lately and Miller has been a wall. Carolina and Pittsburgh could battle their way into a playoff by playing just a little superior to .500, while Ottawa would have to play superior to .750.
Anything's possible, I could even make this thread in the Islander's board. The odds are severely against Ottawa, and despite being on a 3 game winning streak, that's not how it's been all season and a sudden turnaround and winning 75% of their games until the end of the season seems very unlikely.

Like I said, I'm not saying it will happen, but I still have intense hope and am not giving up.
It's definetly not JUST a winning streak if you're demolishing teams like Philedelphia and Buffalo.
Especailly in the second game against "the hot" buffalo sabres where Ottawa spent 28 minutes of that game shorthanded. And only managed to let 1 gaol against them after all those PKs, and on top of that they killed off a 6 minute powerplay.
There's definetly more to thier wins than just winning, they're coming back. maybe not this year, but it will happen. Especially with Cory Clouston and Brian Elliott, I think these guys have saved the team.

all because they won 4 in a row it doesn't mean they are going to make the playoffs

all because they won 4 in a row it doesn't mean they are going to make the playoffs it's still 8 points closer, and it looks more impressive when they're all together It's 5 now, by the way, they shut-out the Predators. But the thing that amazes me is that all these consecutive wins are on the road. Before Clouston, the Sens only had 3 road wins. the fact that they're winning these road games definetly shows improvement. Now, the Sens should be in 11th, they have the same amount of points as the Leafs, but they have played less games and have more wins

lol, you quoted me! Yup, but now im not going to talk about win streaks until another one comes up. For now im going to start talking about point streaks...Ottawa has a 7 game point streak...pfff...I've got a back-up argument And if had watched the game, you would have noticed that 5 road games in 7 days is too much, I should have took that to consideration before I shot off my mouth and starting bragging...In the OT loss again colorado fatigue was definetly a huge factor.
