Better than last season on the O, but I still think it's kinda weak in the D area. They need one more solid defensive defenceman. Way too much puck movers...and O'byrne. I mean Gill is good, but he's getting old and he's not what he used to be. I don't think Gorges is a top 2 guy either.
Also Martin is a defensive style coach, for these guys to be more effective they need to play a hard on the forecheck, Martin will have to do some kind of coaching adjustment. To be honest I think next season could go either way.

Analyzing all the acquisitions...
Cammalleri - I think we haven't had a player like him in as long as I can remember. A pure goal scorer. Don't expect him to take the puck all the way down the ice and deke out the whole team, but he can bury the puck. He's great on the powerplay too. Expectations: 35-40 Goals
Gionta - He's only 5'7 but he's really fast and plays a lot bigger than he actually is. He's not afraid to go in front of the net or along the boards to get the puck despite his size. Has good hands, a good scoring touch, and once had a 48 goal season playing with Gomez. Expectations: 20-30 goals, 60-65 points
Gomez - A very good playmaker but never really clicked with anyone in New York. He does have very good vision and is extremely fast though. Has maybe the best acceleration in the NHL and flies accross the neutral zone. If he can find some chemistry with Gionta again and with Cammelleri, he could have a very good season. Expectations: 15-20 goals, 70-80 points
Spacek - I think this is one of the most underrated signings. He's an offensive defenseman that has a good shot and good vision, but he's also good in his own end as well. He rarely makes stupid plays and makes nice breakout passes. He is not very physical though. He is still probably our second best defenseman behind Markov now. Expectations: 35-45 points
Gill - He has a specific role and it's not offense. He's a defensive defenseman who is used to kill penalties and clear the front of the net. He's huge at 6'7 but doesn't play as physical as he should. Will probably be used as the 6th defenseman. Expectations: Just to contribute some solid minutes on the PK and be good defensively.
Moen - A fourth line energy player who throws a ton of hits and is not afraid to drop the gloves. He has been tremendous in his role, especially during Anaheim's cup run in 2007. I love this signing. Expectations: 10-20 points, 150+ hits
Mara - He has regressed a bit in terms of offense, but he's still a good defenseman. Pretty big, not afraid to hit or fight. Good defensively and doesn't make bad decisions. A better option than having O'Byrne in the lineup. Number 4 or 5 defenseman. Expectations: 20-30 points

you know what, I'm going to contradict my last post here by saying that the Defence is Solid. As for the O...good. Not alot of secondary scoring. Which might be their Achilles Heel going into next season. As a fan of Ottawa I know that a top line isn't good enough. The Kostitsyn bros. and Plecanek(if he's even there next season) need to step up. Alot.
Of course im saying this assuming that the C-G-G line will be together as a top line.

I really happy that they got Moen, he will taking Steve's job. I see Moen playing on the 3rd line.

Well of course that is a tentative lineup at this point. There could be more changes and they may split up the three big forwards they signed to increase scoring depth. There's also the possibility that Pacioretty starts the year in the AHL and Metropolit gets moved to the wing.
A. Kostitsyn - Gomez - Gionta Cammalleri - Plekanec - S. Kostitsyn Latendresse - Lapierre - Moen Stewart - Chipchura - Metropolit
Other possibilities if they want size on both the top lines:
A. Kostitsyn - Gomez - Gionta Cammalleri - Plekanec - Latendresse Pacioretty - Lapierre - S. Kostitsyn Stewart - Metropolit/Chipchura - Moen
There are a lot of players playing off-wing in that last lineup though.
Another thing we can do is have Cammalleri at center. He can play that position, he just prefers being a winger.
A. Kostitsyn - Gomez - Gionta Latendresse - Cammalleri- S. Kostitsyn Pacioretty - Plekanec - Moen Stewart - Lapierre - Metropolit

ok, because I thought he was a UFA next year and I was wondering why nobody was putting him on their rosters.

Well here's what I think the line-up will end up looking like:
A. Kostitsyn - Gomez - Cammalleri S. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Gionta Latendresse - Lapierre - D'Agostini Moen - Metropolit/Chipchura - Stewart/Laraque
The only thing that could change is if Pacioretty has a great preseason, he could steal Sergei's spot, who I assume would be bumped down to D'Ago's spot.
That's a pretty nice line-up and a really good first line.
