Who do you think is the best team on paper going into next season?

In my opinion it would be Chicago. They were already really good on paper except they've basically swapped Hossa for Havlat. Of course they don't have Khabibulin anymore but Huet did alot of the starting last season anyways.

Chicago will be on the top for sure. Losing Khabibulin will hurt then alot. Huet needs a good back up to play at least 25 to 30 games for him. Also the hawks will be in trouble after the season when they have to sign Towes and Kane. But the signed Hossa which makes it hard to sign Towes and Kane if you ask me.
Another team is Calgary.

Calgary's good, but the loss of Cammaleri (Camalleri, how ever you spell it, wtv) will hurt them. Granted, Boewmester will somewhat compensate. So you're right, but I still don't think they're any Chicago here.

I think Chicago will have no problem signing Toews, Kane, and Keith. They might lose Seabrook out of it, but that's life. There are always ways to get under the cap.

There's no doubt that Philly is going to be one of the powerhouses next year also. Good offense, good defense, and there's no question that Emery is a fairly good goalie.

Meh, I'm not sold on Emery. I have a "we'll see" attitude towards him going into the season.
Luckily, the rest of Philly's roster is rock-solid, so either way I'm not too worried for them.

Emery was the best goalie in the KHL last season. I know it's no NHL but still, pretty good accomplishment for the second most elite league in the world.

The AHL as a whole is a better league than the KHL. Not to mention that he was on one of the KHL's good teams, and the difference between good teams and bad teams in the KHL is HUGE compared to the NHL. It's like comparing the Red Wings to a CHL team. It's not that spectacular of an accomplishment.

OK, well in that case, nevermind my statement then.

and all because you have a good team on paper that doesn't mean anything. I wouldn't be shock if this year stanley cup team is a average team.

Senators maybe just kidding...Knock on wood! Maybe if they trade Heatley. Maybe if they keep Heatley? I don't see how people still think this guy has no value. Especially this season with the Olympics. Heatley/Spezza will be pushing hard this season, maybe to the point where they are an offensive powerhorse again.
