1st half has definitely been interesting. Bottom feeders have been thriving (Avs, Kings and 'Yotes). Powerhouse for a decade, Wings, Stuck in a position where the play-offs are merely just a possibilty.
Players like Penner and Kopitar, who are great players in the first place, playing above par hockey, nice to see. Young players like Stamkos and Doughty have been playing amazing hockey...especially Stamkos who has a fairly disappointing season last year.
It's been a pretty interesting season so far. No doubt about that.
My favorite moments: Being the Sens fan that I am I would have to say seeing the Sens blowout Tampa Bay 7-1 early in the season where Michalek got his 1st hat-trick and 2 of his goals were short-handed.
Another one being Karlsson's first NHL goal. Can't get better than watching a future franchise player get his 1st.

As Carson mentioned, it's been an interesting season. Lots of surprises - young teams on the rise like LA and Colorado, and successful yet aging franchises like Detroit and Carolina on the decline. It would be nice to see some new teams in the picture come playoff time, and it looks like that might be a reality this season.
It'll be interesting to see who comes out on top in the scoring race. The acquisition of Heatley has really sparked Thornton to a whole other level, and I'll really be keeping an eye on the Sharks this year. I know this is repeated every season and it never happens, but I think this could be the year that the Sharks do some damage in the postseason. Ovechkin and a (so far) healthy Gaborik are making strong cases as well. You can't ever count out Crosby either.
As a Habs fan, obviously the biggest surprise for me is the emergence of Plekanec. He's in the top 10 for points (on pace for 91 points), all while being one of the top penalty killers in the league. He's only recently been matched up with quality linemates too. Also, now that we've gotten past Kostitsyn's annual slow start, he's been on fire with 17 points in his last 15 games. We also have a player on pace for 40 goals approaching mid-season in Cammalleri - been a while since we've seen that in Montreal!
It's been a good one so far - looking forward to see how the rest plays out!

I couldn't agree with you more. Doughty, Kopitar are having great season so far. I really like how Stamkos and Penner started the year after having a rough season last year. Also I like how Price is playing this year.
Another thing I think that the Kings and Avs had a great season to the season just like Carson said. But I think that will have some problems in the 2nd half. I don't see Colorado keeping up the way that they have been playing. Just my view.
Also as a Montreal fans, I'm really happy to see the way Plekanec has been playing. I'm wishing that Bob would sign him before the season ends because I'm scared that we are going to lose him like we do with all the other players will had in the past. Also getting Markov back on the powerplay helps too since he missed most of the 1st half. My favorite moment: Watching Price's toe save in a shoot out againts the New York Rangers that save got me jumping from my sit. Also you my call me a loser on this one but all of his hockey helmets that he got made for the 100 season. I think that is pretty cool.
Another moment was on December 4,2009. The 100 birthday of the Montreal Canadiens. Mike Cammalleri scores a hat trick and listening to the crowd cheering was pretty sweet to watch. Also having all the old habs on the ice before the warm up was pretty sweet too.
Things to watch in the season: I'm keeping this one simple. Montreal will make a run in the second half you watch and see. Oh, and Chicago vs San Jose in the West finals, and Pittursburgh and New Jersey in the East Final. Would had said Buffalo but Miller is going to break.

I somewhat agree with you Snoopy about Colorado. I honestly did not see Craig Anderson as a solid #1 'tender. He's been a key to their success and I'm not sure if he'll survive the end of the season and if that's the case, it will send the Avs down the standings.
