Right before Montreal started there game againts Anahiem they were showing a hit that Matt Cooke did today. Marc Savard of the Boston Burins shot the puck on net with around 5 minutes left in the game. Cooke elbowed him right in the head just like what Mike Richards did to David Booth early in the season. Most likely the hit will be on youtube by now. What do you think that league sure do? I have a couple of things in my mine but I want to see what you guys come up with. If they don't do something somebody is going to died from a hit like that.

Yeah it was a pretty bad hit. Pretty dirty. There are a bunch of GM's investigating it and I'm curious to see what they come up with.
But if you ask me, this is not a gentleman's game. It's fast and rough. I don't think they can change the hitting aspect of the game for the better (in terms of entertainment, which is what's it's all about for the fans). Although serious injuries are not to be ignored, I think the NHL is going to make the game way too soft one day if they cry over every hit that happens. There's not one game that passes that somebody calls out a player for making a dirty hit. It's ridiculous.
There aren't many players that purposely head hunt, or go for the hits that will obviously injure somebody. For all we know, Cooke missed his hit and got Savard in the head, it happens.

Thats Cooke for you. Nothing new on what he did last night. Isn't that like the 3rd time he did that this year. Why not just make a rule. Somebody is going to died one day. Here is what I think that they should do: Option 1: - 2 for heading to a head (shoulder or elbow)
- 10 Minute Misconduct
- If the play does it more then once in the game gets suspended for so many games.
Option 2: - 5 minutes for heading to the head (shoulder or elbow)
- Game Misconduct
- You get suspended if the referee calls his option.
The 2 options that I put on this post is in the Junior A, WHL, OHL, OMJHL hockey. Players know if they do something like that they would put there team shorthanded. I added the suspended part. I think it could work. What do you guys think.

I still can't believe it. I've watched the play again and again and I have no idea how an entire committee of experienced people who do this for a living came to the consensus that it was shoulder-to-shoulder. And it's not like Cooke hasn't done this kind of crap before.

The league needs to hired Brian Bruke again, he has bigger grape fruit to suspended players then the guy they have right now.

Head hits and blindsides becomes a rule. Will take effect tonight and takes full effect next season. www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=522691&navid=DL|NHL|homeGotta love a big picture of Andy Sutton right on the NHL page above the article. The NHL showing their love for the Sens right there, making them look real good.

The NHL is eclipsing the NBA in terms of popularity. No way it's going to go soft on these guys. They are well compensated for what they do for a living. Don't want to make millions playing hockey and taking a few hits to the head periodically? where do I sign up?
