If you were in charge of the NHL what would be some change that you would do to the league???

There's a few I'd do. - Allow teams to retain part of a player's cap hit when making a trade (For example, a team trades a player with a 4 million cap hit, but keeps 2 million of the cap hit. Would allow for more trades in the salary cap era).
- Remove the point for an OT loss. Loser points don't really make sense. A point would still be awarded for a SO loss because the SO replaces tie games.
- There's talk of minor penalties being 1 minute instead of 2 during OT. I like that idea.
- If a player gets a penalty in the last minute of OT, he should not be allowed to participate in the SO.

I would probably take teams that are making less money and bring them to canada or even northern USA where they know they will make money. That could even raise the salary cap if they get enough extra money.

Here is what I would do - One thing that I would change is whoever wins the all star would get home ice during the finals. Just like what MLB does.
- Fired Gary. Hate the guy.
- Move teams to Canada.
- Put more teams in the playoffs.

I heared this rumor: they want to take the posts on the net and make them more of an oval shape so more pucks will go in if they hit the post.
It would make it a more offensive game and raise the point average, but I don't think I like this. Imagine how much harder it would be to be a goalie. It would make scoring too easy...well, not too easy, but alot easier.

Mmm, here's my little take on things:
1) Fix the officiating- I mean, really. The one-sided reffing and playing at favorites I tend to see a lot, and it's an embarrassment to the league in general. How can you reel in more fans when crap like that happens all the freaking time? A slip here or there in calls because of playing it sneaky is one thing, but when someone gets a high stick in the face in front of the ref with no call? No. Just... no.
2) Modify the delay of game penalty involving tipping the puck over the glass- I know a lot of people say that it should be gone completely, but I know for a while the defensemen were getting really good at managing to purposely tip the puck over to stop play. A bad bounce off the stick is another matter though, and I see too many calls on that.
3) More teams up north- Bettman opening a bazillion markets down south was a silly idea. Move the weaker-market teams to more profitable sections.
4) Shorten the season- I'll probably get a lot of hate for this. But I think a season that lingers around 80 games, especially in a hard-hitting collision sport like hockey, is nuts. Chop the number of games per season to around 60. No change in playoff setup, though. Those boys deserve a bit of rest after all they do.
5) I like VD's ideas on OTs and SOs. I second those notions.
6) Enough with the crap about higher-goal games- I like it as it is, thanks.

i agree with your point Vodka but I would keep the 82 games. The players get played enough to play.
