Well, an NHL team would garner a lot more interest than an AHL team, so if Winnipeg can get 8000 people per game for the Moose, I'm pretty sure they could have good attendance for an NHL team.
They don't even have to sell out every game, as long as attendance is solid. Ottawa doesn't sell out every game, but it's still nowhere near empty.

i just don't see it happening till Gary is out as Commish. I have a feeling that Kansas City is on top of his list. But when you tihnk of it. Kansas hasn't had a pro team since there was still the IHL. so thats around 6 to 10 years. I think. And if Gary wants a team there so bad, why isn't there a AHL team there now?  ? |

Kansas City or Vegas are my two best bets for his top relocation choices. I've heard plenty of fluttering rumors for both cities as proposed moves.

But Bettman wants more teams IN DA SOUTH. BECUZ HE IS BETTMAN AND... DURR. LOL LET'S MOVE TO MEXICO CITY. NO IT IS NOT FAR SOUTH ENUFF. The man makes no sense. The vast majority of the guys in powerful spots for the NHL make no sense. As if my whining and bitching hasn't made it obvious enough already.  |

I agree might as well move the team to mexico while their at it. Southern ontario could back fire big time since toronto and buffalo are in that area.

I think he want's more teams in the south for promotional reasons only. It's a good idea. Why not promote a winter sport in an area with no winter? Oh yeah! you shouldn't!
He should be smart enough to know that if he put's a team in an area where the club can make money it will add up over time. The money goes to the NHL, could even increase the salary cap, which means teams will one day afford to sign their franchise players for "fair" prices. ''
Take some franchises out of places like Tampa Bay, Florida, Phoenix and bring them to Canada or even northern U.S.
Hockey is Canada's national pass time and they only have 8 team at the professional level when States(!) like California and Florida have 2-3 teams each. Their pass times are surfing and sand castles! Where is the justice in that?
To hear that Bettman is considering putting teams in places like Kansas City and Las Vegas over areas like Winnipeg, S. Ontario, Quebec or even Newfoundland is a joke. This guy is just losing his money and the respect of NHL fans nation-wide.

I can see trying to spread the teams out to promote a wider fanbase/awareness for the sport, but he's been nothing but stupid about it. If the place is struggling where it is, move it to a place where there's a better market. Don't muck around and play favorites... though that seems to be Bettman's most powerful qualities.

the only way that they are moving to Las Vegas is if the guy that makes all the CSI shows buys the team. If I was Gary I would leave NBA move a team down there first and see how it goes after that.

Ballz-Silly got rejected...no Canadian team for us then...
The 200 Coyotes fans can finally get thier sleep at night knowing that thier crappy un-successfull hockey team is there to stay.
