Yeah, I loved that trade. The trade for Heatley was also a good one. At the time at least, Heatley got 2-50 goal seasons while Hossa was struggling for points and bottomfeeding with the Thrashers.

Hossa has always been a better two-way and overall complete player than Heatley though. I'd say as an overall player, Hossa > Heatley.

Oh yeah, for sure. I wont deny that. Just Hossa wasn't very productive as a Thrasher.

I'm not just looking for an argument here, but he did have his two best seasons of his career so far as a Thrasher, including his one and only 100 point season. And he helped lead the team to the only playoff appearance in their history (though he was invisible in the four games they were there - Hell his brother out-played him in that series).

yup, his brother was better then him. But when you think of it Hossa didn't have a great playoff this year too

Really? Nevermind then. lol. I always thought he was way worse on the Thrashers.
My point was that Heatley was still more productive than Hossa. Which I guess was true. But I'm only talking stats, here:
Im only gonna compare the two whole seasons that Hossa was on Atlanta
05-06: Heatley: 50 goals 53 assists 103 points +29 Hossa: 39 goals 53 assists 92 points +17
06-07: Heatley: 50 goals 55 assists 105 points +31 Hossa: 43 goals 57 assists 100 points +18
Ok you're right, Hossa wasn't bad at all. But Heatley was still more productive. Also, look at that +/- difference.

You're comparing the +/- of a player who was on a team that went to the cup finals and was on one of the best teams in the league with a player who made the playoffs once with a top-heavy team one season and was very average. I'm not saying Heatley is a bad player at all. He's one of the best at what he does: snipe! That being said, you can't build a team around a guy like Heatley. He's an extremely valuable luxury though.

I would take the more dimensional player...that being Hossa.
Hossa can snipe almost(well not almost, but he's still amazing at it) as well as Heatley, but Heatley, unlike Hossa can't get the puck, he has to have it givin to him. So unless he's playing with Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson or Ryan Getzlaf and Rick Nash, he won't be as productive where Hossa will be no matter what.

I'm still going with Heatley. beacause when I watched Hossa play in the playoffs he suck to joint up. I'm happy that Detroit has him. But no matter what I'm going with Danny. lol
