well game 5 is in the books. and the caps are one win away from going golfing. They lose 4 to 3 in overtime. The overtime goal was scored by Malkin around 4 minutes into the extra period (i think) what do you guys think of the game tonight

AND THE REFS WIN THE GAME FOR THE PENGUINS AGAIN.
Holy god. The regular portion of the game was decently done by the refs. I was amazed. But as soon as the thing hit OT, they got down on their knees and blew the game. Tripping on Semin, charging on Varly, and an interference on Gordon are all A-OK, but as soon as Jurcina pulls the same crap they do, it's a penalty on us. Bull.*******.****. I never saw the arena go insane with rage like I did tonight. All sorts of junk got thrown on the ice, and more than a few of us were beating on the glass and yelling numerous terrible things.
It was extra disappointing because we played our best game in a while.
Green was goddamn useless again, even with the second assist. Semin I'm sure is hurting in the wrist, because I got down to the ice for the pre-game warm-ups and saw him grimace in pain and clutch at his wrist after trying a shot. Which is why he's been playing his annoying habit of PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS more than usual. Ugh.
I need a drink.

The guy trip the guy and he didn't touch the puck so that is a penalty. And for Green i agree he is having a bad post season. 1 goal in 12 games i think.

OMG!! every time the caps loose u blame the refs. Ever thought that pittsburgh might be the better team and washingtons average d is catching up to them. I mean malkin walked right around jurcina, same with crosby on erskine ref had to call that penalty he was right there. Even boudrea after the game said he thought the reffing was alright. Pens just found a way to win plain and simple. I like both teams just so you know.

I didn't get to see the game, so I can't really comment, but look we're all guilty of blaming our favorite team's loss on the refs at one point or another, especially right after the game when emotions are still running high. It's part of the normal bias we all have as a fan of our particular teams.
It's an aspect I've been working on, to try and be as objective as possible when analyzing something and looking past my bias.

It was clearly a penalty all the caps fans know it they just didnt like their team gettin a penalty. Nobody likes it when their team gets penalty in ot.

One thing I can definitely tell you guys is that the head of the NHL does not tell the refs to help any particular team. Forget the moral implications of screwing over multi-million dollar businesses in the teams they would be making their refs go against, that's straight up illegal, and as much as people like to rip on Bettman, that's not happening.

I knew that if they did tell refs to help teams it would be a disgrace.

The refs did the right call in overtime. The guy trip the guy and he didn't touch the puck so that is a penalty. Oh, I can't argue the call on Juice. It's the no-call on Semin's BLATANT trip and the interference on Gordon that happened RIGHT BEFORE that I have issue with. And it was in plain view in front of the refs as well. And Crosby's charge on Varly? Please. How much abuse is the poor kid gonna have to take? As for the dismissal of corruption in the league, might I remind you of the huge corruption scandal in regards to the NBA some time back? Before the NHL, Bettman was deep in the NBA, and I wouldn't be surprised if he carried over a few of those "habits." As long as he's in charge and things continue like they are, I am not giving him the benefit of the doubt.

As long as he's in charge and things continue like they are, I am not giving him the benefit of the doubt. Why would Bettman want to help the Penguins anyway? If you're going to say something about Crosby here, Ovechkin has been marketed just as much if not more than Crosby has lately, so there really would be no clear motives for the NHL to do this. Not to mention that the Penguins don't need help from the refs to beat the Caps, anyway. They're both two very good teams that can beat each other without the refs helping them. And your team is not perfect either, you're obviously not a new fan of hockey, come on now. A LOT of stuff is tolerated in the playoffs. You dismiss anything your team does, but every time the Penguins do something you're calling for a penalty, suspension, or somehow pinning it on Bettman. I dislike Bettman as much as the next guy for a lot of reasons, but I guarantee he doesn't have a hard-on for the Penguins like everyone thinks he does.

And I also agree with the Semin one too. But the play with Sidney i agree with out the call. Sidney was going hard to the net and his stick hit the caps goalie in the net. I'm pretty sure that Sidney didn't mean to hit the goalie. PLus it shouldn't be a call since the hole playoffs the goalies are getting run all over left and right.

Game 7 should be nuts! One thing I can say about the refs though is that I hope they won't impose themselves into the game too much. I want to see two teams battle to win the series.
