minutes after the Habs eliminated the Bruins from the QUARTERFINAL round in the play-offs, the city of montreal started to riot. 6 copcars were set on fire and 16 in total were towed away.
Do you guys think this riot was appropriot?
Do you think it will get worse if the habs get past the Semi-final round?

Inappropriate, but yes it's happened before and it's going to keep happening.
Heheh, and you're exaggerating a bit. Just 'cause a few jackasses decided to be idiots (they were probably drunk anyway) doesn't mean it was a full fledged riot; like you said the city rioted. There were only about 100 people involved, 60 of which were arrested.

It's classified as one, but you need to be rioting against something for it to be a riot in my opinion. I don't see how it's a riot if it's for a good thing - it's more like excessive celebrating in my books.

Yeah, Montreal will be wiped out if they win.
Apparently, I read that the vandalism was planned ahead of time and broke out during the celebrations on St-Catherine's. That's what was in the Montreal Gazette, anyway.

This might sound a bit bizarre......but I attribute the Monday night 'riot in Montreal' on the weather !!!.... as a factor....
yeah, sounds strange but.......after the horrible winter and unleash UNSEASONAL VERY ABOVE average temps for that time of year & add some booze, warm summer night, bare exposed skin = a good combination for some hooligan fun. Similar to letting the dogs out of the cage to run around in the dirt & grass ??
& unattended cop cars.....might as well place a flashing blinking NEON sign...."how fast can you wreck/demolish me?"

That post made me laugh. Awesome.
Seriously, the drinks can't help. They're thinking of putting the drinking age limit at the Bell centre at 25. Sounds like a good idea to me.

haha, good points, well most of the people that go to the Habs home games, go there to get wasted with thier buddys. and alchohol+crazy habs fans=broken cop cars, i was personnaly really angry when i heared about the riot it's something that could ruin a city's reputation in the non-hockey world.
