I didn't think you were calling them scrubs either, I was just trying to single out some of the 4th liners to use as an example.
As for the Russia conspiracy, I doubt it. I think he's just trying to get the scorers out more than the others. He's probably treating it like a regular NHL club where the 1-2 lines get loads of icetime and the bottom lines get barely any.

They should get more ice time, especially if they make it past Germany tonight and reach Russia. I have a feeling that the bench will be shortened by then and one or two of them will be getting little to no ice time, however, which isn't real cool. Two-way players are key for Canada to succeed. This team can't just focus on scoring.
Oh, look - USA versus the Swiss in the next round. Again.

Just to add a little detail, since there are no healthy scratches in the Olympics, the teams dress 20 players (either 13 forwards and 7 defensemen or 12 forwards and 8 defensemen), so the ice-time is a little more spread out. It could make other players' ice-time seem deflated.

They dress. Doesn't mean they all get to play. Isn't there some guy from Norway who's only seen 40 seconds of ice time in three games? Now that's what I call shortening the bench.

Yeah, but the difference is that Canada has much more depth, and the spares are actually very good players (Toews and Seabrook[who was one of the best players in the loss to USA imo]). Russia actually uses 12 forwards and 8 defensemen, and uses 5-man units instead of trios and duos (every forward line has their own defenseive pairing). Whereas on a team like Norway, the difference in talent between the top guys and bottom guys is much more pronounced.

Watching this game against Germany doesn't give me the impression that Toews is the thirteenth forward. Not by a longshot. I don't think Bergeron got a single second of time in the first - even though the official Olympic site had him with a full :13 worth.
As soon as Canada ended up taking two penalties in the second, there he was. On the PK.

Good game by Canada tonight looks like there starting to build chemsitry especially the crosby staal iginla line. Toews is way better than being a thirteenth forward hes good along the boards and down low. Hes good in the offensive zone and defensive zone he has more of a grinding type of role on the team. Thorton marleau and heatly looked better tonight as a line as well as toews morrow and richards. Now if we can get nash getzlaf and perry going we will we hard to handle. Also good game by luongo even though it was Germany LUUUUUUUUU. I told u guys no need to panic GO CANADA GO

I'm just saying what I think. But you got to give the 1st line some credit they did play good. Also way didn't the coach make Nash take that pentaly shot, let the guy finish what he started.

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the penalty shot decision. In a closer game, I would've been all for it, but given the circumstances, I would've let Nash take his own shot.

Agreed on the penalty shot situation. if it was a closer game, I'd let the person who's best at it go. Since this game wasn't exactly close, I'd just let the guy who drew the shot go.
Czechs beat the Latvians in OT. Norway and Slovakia are in a close game now. A Slovakian player got hurt (concussed) and Tollefson (sp?) was kicked out of the game.
